WHAT IS PHYSICAL THERAPY (PT) AND WHAT CAN IT HELP WITH?

When you visit a physical therapist, you are visiting a specialty provider who can help you move better, help you reduce and manage your pain. All physical therapists are trained to treat musculoskeletal impairments, post operative care, acute to chronic pain or injuries and many other conditions. We are the movement experts and can properly assess dysfunctions in joint movement without the need for x-rays or images. Some therapists have certifications that make them specialists in certain conditions.

WHERE CAN I RECEIVE MY PT?

C.O.M.P.E.T.E Physical Therapy & Wellness provides several options where you can receive your care. Our physical office location is located at 1400 25th St. S in Moorhead MN within EHP Performance.  We also offer a mobile option of providing care in your home, workplace or gym to fully meet you where you are and to provide care when you need it the most.  Call us today to discuss the optimal location for your treatment.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Your initial therapy session will take approximately 1-1.5 hours. This time will be used to complete a full-body assessment using the Selective Functional Movement Screen which helps determine whether your pain is caused by a mobility problem or a stability problem. Your treatment sessions can be 1-hour in length to provide more time for hands on treatment and exercises.  Our 1-hour treatments are excellent for those receiving care for multiple body parts and ailments.  We also offer a 30-minute treatment or tune-up for more frequent visits, more localized or specific care and for exercise progression.  Your treatment time is accommodated to your schedule.

DO YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?

We do not take any insurances and are exclusively a cash-based practice. C.O.M.P.E.T.E is also not affiliated with Medicare or any other 3rd party payers. After years of experience we've learned that insurances can be limiting to your care and are often more expensive for you in the long run.

DO I NEED EQUIPMENT?

Any equipment that you require for healing, rehabilitation, stretching, strengthening and tools typically used by a physical therapist will be brought directly to you. We will also make recommendations that you may purchase individually that may supplement your rehab.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY DR?

No need for a referral! Minnesota and North Dakota are considered direct access states which means physical therapist can assess and treat any of your musculoskeletal pains and concerns without a doctor referral.

In the state of Minnesota, you can see a physical therapist without a referral for up to 90 days. If PT is for disease prevention, wellness, fitness education or exercise services we can see you without any time limitation.

North Dakota is a full access state which means you can be seen by a PT first without a referral and without limitations. This means you are seen sooner without jumping through the hoops of traditional healthcare that can costs you thousands.

WHAT ARE WE DOING TO KEEP YOU SAFE?

In light of Covid-19, all equipment is sterilized before and after use and our therapists will use personal protective equipment including gloves and masks and we are fully vaccinated. In addition, our therapists complete daily screens including temperature checks and symptom questionnaires.

HOW DO I CONTACT MY DOCTOR?

We take a personal interest in your rehab, which is why we offer you direct communication with your doctor via email, text and through our home exercise app (AC Health) before, during, and after you have completed your therapy so that all your questions can be answered. (All forms of communication are HIPAA compliant in order to protect your privacy). You can text us at the first onset of pain and we will triage you over the phone and get you scheduled for an appointment ASAP - quite possibly the same day.

IS THIS THERAPY CONSIDERED HOME HEALTH?

No. Home health agencies are focused on recovery and discharge after an acute illness, injury or hospitalization. Home Health agencies practice under a home care model (billed under Medicare Part A) and can include multiple providers. Our focus is to preserve and improve mobility, function, and quality of life under any circumstance but can not see you at the same time as "Home Health". You can receive care from C.O.M.P.E.T.E once you have officially been discharged from home health. We make physical therapy house calls but would be considered outpatient (Medicare Part B). It should also be understood that we are not affiliated with Medicare.
